In Google Chrome, you may quickly and simply search for photos, for example, to find out if a similar pattern exists on other web sites. However, right-clicking has been replaced by “Google Lens” as the only method of searching for photos on Google for some time now. Is there a way to turn this off?

“Google Lens” software on a smartphone can access every picture in the gallery. Android customers cannot stop it. There is no way to turn off Lens on the phone without getting further into the system. It is possible to bring back the Google Image Search feature of the desktop browser by going through complicated paths.

Disable Google Lens and restore old image search feature

You may quickly turn off Google Lens in the Google Chrome browser on a PC to restore the “Search for image with Google” option. To do so, follow these steps:

  • Open the “Google Chrome” browser.
  • Enter chrome://flags in the address bar.
  • In the search bar enter “Enable Lens features in Chrome”.
  • A result will be displayed. In the context menu on the right click on “Default”.
  • Select “Disabled” in the menu.
  • A button appears that you can use to restart Google Chrome.

Right-clicking on an image on a website will now see “Search for picture with Google” rather than the Lens search. If you change the setting back to “Default” or “Enabled” after disabling Lens, you may use it again.

Alternative method – Using Search By Image extension

You can perform a platform-specific reverse image search with the powerful extension Search By Image. Simply right-click a picture and select the search engine of your interest.

You may use it to combine the old Google Image Search with Google Lens Search in the right-click menu. It can be configured in a few easy steps:

  • Click on Add to Chrome. Then, tap Add Extension to confirm.

Right-click on the image you are looking for and select Search by Image. You may search a Google image search by clicking on Google here. Alternatively, the search engine of your choice.

While Google Lens is a useful feature that enhances the experience in many ways, it may not be to everyone’s taste at the moment. Some people may find it distasteful and the results may not be consistent. You can now stop Google Lens Search and go back to using the classic Google Image in Chrome on your computer and mobile device.

Disable Google Lens using Chrome Flags on Android

Google Lens is used by the Chrome browser on Android to do reverse image searches, much as it does on the PC. On Android, there are no extensions to assist you, therefore we’ll use Chrome Flags to turn off this functionality. The procedures are described below.

  • Copy and past chrome://flags/#context-menu-with-google-lens in Chrome address bar.

In case this option does not show up for you, enable the #temporary-unexpire-flags-m95 and #temporary-unexpire-flags-m96 on the flags page.

  • Open the drop-down menu next to it and choose Disabled.
  • Restart Google Chrome.
