Do you want to identify a specific plant? It’s pretty easy with your iPhone. It uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to display information on various objects, places, animals, flowers, and plants. All you have to do is point at an object in the picture. As of iOS 15, Apple has included a built-in function called Visual Look Up that will do exactly what you need, so there’s no need to download a separate app.

  1. Launch the “Photos” app on your iPhone and choose an image of something like a flower or an animal, that will serve as the look up.
  2. The “i” button at the bottom of the screen provides additional context. A Visual Look Up will be available if the object has a star symbol next to it.
  3. Use the “Look Up” search bar by tapping on the tiny symbol in the middle of the image.

The search results for Visual Look Up include information from Siri Knowledge, similar photos on the web, and other online sources. The availability of Visual Look Up varies by country.
